Spike was awesome! She worked with us from beginning to end to give us exactly what we wanted. Spike gave us some incredible suggestions for our ceremony and we were so excited to have her. We feel so lucky to have had Spike officiate our wedding! From the beginning, she was responsive and easy to work with. Thanks to her, our ceremony was unique and very memorable...best one I've witness, if I may say so myself ;) We had so many guests approach us and comment on the beautiful ceremony, and how it was just so "us".

I went with Custom Hitches because she is a professional to the core. I wanted a simple, meaningful ceremony that would touch the audience and make them giggle. It was perfect and everyone I heard from afterward, from my traditional catholic grandmother to my hippie friends, all agreed that the ceremony was beautiful and perfect and exactly right for us. I couldn't recommend Spike enough. She did a fantastic job.

Spike is such a wonderful lady and I was honored to have her perform our ceremony. I had no idea where to start with vows etc.. as my husband and I are not very religious but spiritual she was so nice and sent me several examples which made it very easy for us to come up with the perfect ceremony. Spike was very accomodating, personable, and made you feel comfortable from the first time you met her. Eventhough I had requested her services pretty late in the game she was able to fit us into her busy schedule and was the perfect addition to our wedding celebration.

There is literally not one bad thing that I can say about Spike. She was the first officiant that we contacted who got back to us right away, she was so great about setting up meetings to get to know us face-to-face, and even though our relationship has been short, I felt like she really understood who we were as a couple. Spike made us feel so comfortable, she made a potentially nerve wracking part of the wedding SO simple, and she was a smiling beacon of comfort during the entire process. Literally everyone who I spoke with after the ceremony commented on how beautiful it was, how uniquely "us" it felt, and how well it combined our more secular style with a touch of the religious aspects that are important to my family. Spike made this most important part of our wedding day feel effortless and natural, while remaining beautiful, memorable and poetic. I cannot be more grateful for her.

Spike was such a pleasure to work with. Happy, relaxed, down to earth, helpful, patient, funny. We wrote our custom ceremony with her and it turned out to be the significant, sentimental occasion that I hoped it would be. Nothing typical or common or sterile. I would recommend her a million times over.

Spike is one of the things I am most grateful for when it comes to my wedding. She was absolutely fantastic to work with! Any questions you may have, she answers honestly. Any time you send her email, she responds VERY quickly. Any ideas you have, she takes into consideration. She lets you create the ceremony you want, and only offers suggestions if you ask her for them. She is so friendly and puts you at ease the moment you meet her, as if she has been a friend to you for years. Her warm demeanor definitely adds something special to your ceremony, and you can tell that she is genuinely happy for you on your wedding day, not just there to perform a task she was paid to do. She cares about making your ceremony exactly the way YOU want it, as unique or traditional as you ask for. She doesn't tell you what you should do, she asks what you want. I loved that. I did not want my wedding to be like all of the others I and my guests attended, I wanted it to be special and memorable, and it was exactly that thanks to Spike! We do not live in Austin, but she was just as available to us as if we did. She was the first officiant we met with, and after our meeting, we decided to not look any further because we found the right person for our ceremony. And after reading samples of previous ceremonies she had written and performed, we were more than convinced! After the ceremony, all of our guests commented on how wonderfully she performed the ceremony & how beautiful it was. We were so pleased! I highly suggest you meet with Spike, you will not be disappointed.

When the officiant that my wife and I originally booked to perform our wedding ceremony canceled 3 months before our wedding, I was disappointed. While in the back of my mind I knew things would work out for the best, I was frustrated with adding the task of finding a new officiant to the never-ending to-do list. So, I gave the task to my wife. She found Spike's information on her website, we had a brief meeting with her on Skype, and we knew we found the right person. Spike began the process by sending us several different ceremonies that she thought we would like, assuring us that she would help us craft the ceremony to fit our vision. While Spike brings a unique and fun vibe to the entire process, my favorite part of the ceremony was what I ended up calling our "Love Story." She told the story of how my wife and I met and fell in love with both humor and tenderness. She was able to capture US in her words - the story was touching, honest, and funny. We were told by friends that our ceremony was one of the most touching and heartfelt ceremonies they have attended. Plus, we worked a few laughs in there, which both our guests and we enjoyed. We were really happy that Spike took time to get to know us as a couple and was part of our special day. We could not have asked for anything more.

Spike was amazing. From our first email to our first meeting all the way through the drafts of our ceremony up to the day of the wedding, she was so incredibly easy to work with. It was like having a friend do my ceremony! She talked to us about our story and our lives, she got to know us, she worked out a ceremony to fit exactly what we wanted, and she was always quick to email us back. The ceremony she wrote was perfect, she was punctual on the day of the wedding, she called to say she had arrived, and she worked out all the details with the coordinator. The ceremony itself was beautiful, she has a great speaking voice and made the whole thing flow beautifully. I can't recommend her enough!

Spike was great. We do not live in Austin but Spike worked with us via Skype. After the first meeting she provided us with several scripts, so we could find inspiration and add our own details. Our ceremony was planned outside but we had a terrible weather, so we had to change all plans. So we had the ceremony in a rather small room. And yet, it was wonderful: very loving and intimate atmosphere and Spike played a huge role in creating it. Spike is a great person and has this very easy-going energy, which is very important on your wedding day. Our parents who wanted a Greek church, are saying now that our ceremony was wonderful. And looking back, it is my favorite part of the wedding.

You're wedding is an important and special day, and you want it to be perfect. Picking the right officiant should be the key in shaping you and your partner's ceremony. My husband and I made the best decision with picking Spike Gillespie for our officiant. Spike, truly cares on what what she is doing, and she did an amazing job with our ceremony. Amazing woman! Can't say enough good about her. She customized the wedding and vows just for us. Spent time talking to both of us and made the wedding so extremely special, there were tears in my eyes. Everyone there ranted and raved about her. She felt like part of the family. Strongly recommend her for anyone who wants their special day to be THEIR special day and not just another boring wedding. Don't think anyting else could have been done that would have made it more special and unique.

I was the groom in charge of all the planning, which was already a problem since I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. My future wife was from another country, Catholic and spoke better Spanish than English, while I am non-religious and speak english with just enough Spanish to order a beer and order food. We changed our plans from simply a courthouse, in front of the Justice of the Peace type marriage, to Chapel Dulcinea. With very short notice to the people I was contacting, i began searching the internet looking for an officiant. Chapel Dulcinea also provided a list of officiants, all of whom I assume are very good and capable, but it would be very difficult to imagine anyone as relaxed, or friendlier or easier to work with than Spike Gillespie. Spike's name had come up in my internet search, before I had the Chapel Dulcinea list, so I thought that was a good sign and contacted her via email. Spike responded very quickly to my email and instantly had ideas for our religion/non-religion, english/spanish mixed ceremony. Spike emailed a variety of ceremonies to us, one of which we personalized to fit our lives and it turned out just perfect. Spike's husband even got involved in helping read some of the ceremony in spanish. In the end all went as planned and was better than I had imagined. If things went bad I had a backup plan, of tranquilizing the attendants and myself with mimosas, but it never came to that...well, until after the wedding. Spike's friendliness, smile and relaxed attitude was infectious and I was able to enjoy the day without alot of stress and so was my bride and friends and family. Spike was very prompt on mailing the wedding license and I had it back from the county, all filled out within one week. I was impressed from the first email to receiving the certificate in the mail, I recommend her to anyone whether the wedding is simple like ours, or large and complex. Oh yeh...I forgot to bring the license with me to the ceremony....although I remembered the champagne, did I mention I was the groom? Anyway, Spike was very accommodating in meeting me at one of the local coffeshops in town to hand off the license, again, just another reason I think I got very lucky in finding her. Best of luck!

Hi there Bride, Just wanted to share with you that, we love, love, LOVE having Spike officiate our romantic wedding in the magnificent Chapel Dulcinea. What exactly did I love about Spike? Hmm...... Well, I sent several emails to prospective officiants, and Spike responded right away, with a personal email to me, just a like a friend would. As a bride, I appreciated Spike's genuine warmth and the very "human" way she interacted with me. As a bride, it was already way too overwhelming to choose who will be there at your wedding. You just want someone trustworthy, reliable, and definitely, relaxed. You know, in the most-Austin-kinda-way. Spike also provided me with tips, since she's performed countless weddings at the Chapel. She also sent me several samples of classic wedding ceremonies, and let us decide if we want to write our own, or use her samples, or a little of both. Spike also offered to take several pictures of us, since it was just my handsome groom and my something blue...our Blue Heeler dog, Emie. Our pictures turned out wonderful. Thanks Spike. We didn't have to worry about Spike's reliability either. She was very upfront about her schedule and she was very accommodating with her time. We didn't give her too much notice on our time and date, (I think, just the 72 hrs waiting period), but that was never an issue. She made changes to her schedule and officiated our wedding in time. All in all, we couldn't have chosen a more perfect officiant than Spike. So, Brides, take a deep breath, relax, and contact Spike first. Oh yeah, when you talk to her, tell her Emie says hi.... Spike was wonderful to work with for our ceremony. We were an out of town couple and didn't have a chance to meet her prior to the wedding day, but she was quick and detailed in her email messages, and always responded promptly. She gave us tons of ideas of how to personalize our ceremony including readings and vows. On the day of the wedding she came extra early to go over details, and she did a great job considering we didn't even have a rehearsal. Her delivery of the ceremony was warm and inviting, and we had a lot of good feedback from our guests. I would highly recommend Spike!
