The music for the ceremony was absolutely beautiful! Even when there was almost a last minute change, they were very willing to accommodate my request. Very professional and a great value for the money.

Musical Chairs Discovery Players did an amazing job playing the ceremony music for our wedding. Plus, they gave us great recommendations for music, and offered to play beginning and intro music for our guests. The music was great, and they were very professional.

These four musicians are wonderful. They played from 30 minutes before the wedding through the cocktail hour. You can find many of their pieces on you tube and I highly highly recommend them if you are looking for a quartet to play during your ceremony. The only thing I wish was that we would have put them closer to the ceremony site or hooked them up with a microphone. Probably just putting them 5-8 feet closer would have been nice. They did a very nice job with Canon in D as well as our exit song, The Wedding March. Jill, the coordinator of the group, is very nice and so easy to work with. The first time she played Canon in D for my parents was when we met them at a bridal show, and I knew right away that we were about to hand them a check to guarantee our spot on their calendar.

The Musical Discovery Chamber Players helped make our wedding day that much more special! When we contacted them they were very helpful in the options we had whether it be a string quartet or a string duo there are many combinations to choose from. Planning our ceremony and picking music selections was made easy by the Musical Discovery Chamber Players with their song list and samples on their website. After our ceremony I had many guests approach me and say what a great job they did playing at our ceremony. I was very pleased and would recommend them to all brides! Thanks again for making our wedding flow so great with your music.

Jill Dalley was my contact person with Musical Discovery Chamber Players for my daughter and new son-in-law's wedding and she did a great job in every way. She helped me pick the music for the processinal and recessionals. Additionally, they were able to provide a wireless microphone and speakers for the ceremony. Everything was done on time and in a professional manner. And, last, but certainly not least, the music was lovely.

Jill Dalley was so wonderful. She played the violin solo. It was beautiful.
She was also very helpful in selecting the music for each part of the ceremony and after. This was definitely one part of the planning that was not stressful at all! Thank you Jill!!

Musical Discovery Chamber Players did an excellent job at our wedding ceremony. The music was beautiful! Jill was so quick to respond to all emails, and really helped with recommending appropriate songs for processional/recessional/etc, as I am not a classical music buff. She is extremely professional, and it made the vibe of our ceremony so romantic! We chose a string duet, as that fit our budget best, and it was lovely.

Just breathtaking!!! Â When I walked through those church doors and heard the strings, I was blown away. Â Brian and I received so many compliments on our musicians and song selections. And the extra effort the quartet made in cooperating with a longer than expected homily was above and beyond the call of duty! Â Having the Musical Discovery quartet in our wedding truly made the Mass special and ever so sensory. Â
If it was possible to rank Jill and MDCP higher than a 5 out of 5 on this site, WE WOULD!!! 10 gold stars!!! And please check out their affordability! Better than so many other pricier quartets in Austin! Ms. Jill even sent US a thank you nite after the wedding thanking US for allowing them to celebrate our day! Professional and gracious!!!
Thank you for the art and friendship of Musical Discovery Chamber Players !

We had a great experience with Musical Discovery and Jill Dalley. The music I did hear was beautifully done. We had a violin, viola and trumpet and it was lovely. It added the right mood to our wedding. Jill was so easy to work with getting the music just right for our ceremony. I asked my family their thoughts on the music (since I didn't hear all of it), and they said it was perfect. I couldn't be happier with them!

I have mixed emotions about our experience with Musical Discovery Chamber Players. I originally heard the group play at our venue's open house, and hearing them play Canon in D was the first time that the reality of our upcoming wedding REALLY started to sink in. Since they were one of the venue's preferred vendors and I'd just heard them play beautifully, I was confident in hiring them. Leading up to our event, I was SO impressed with how professional and responsive Jill Dalley was about all our concerns and requests. There were truly no stupid questions to her; I asked about pricing on endless configurations of instruments and song requests, and she patiently and thoroughly responded to everything. Her group had an extensive song list from which to choose, and they offered arrangement services if you had a special request (for a price). We ultimately arrived at the perfect package for us - a string trio for the ceremony that would play personally selected songs from the list, including one special song that we asked to be arranged for us.
As the bride and groom, we actually didn't get to hear very much of what was played during the prelude and part of the processional. For part of this review, then, I must rely on input from my guests. Those with musical inclinations reported that there were many intonation problems and that you could tell which songs the group had played a lot and which weren't requested often. That makes me sad because I know some of those songs weren't very common (though they were on the group's song selection page), but that's what was supposed to make the ceremony personal and special. In effect, that means that the more personal the music was, the lower its quality was.
This inversion was most evident during the special unity candle song for which we paid an extra $50 to have arranged. We had them arrange 3 verses for us to give us flexibility in how long the song lasted. Since the unity candle lighting itself is very short, we had wanted to use the rest of the song as a reflection piece after the candle lighting, so we had arranged a signal for when we wanted the group to stop in case the reflection time became awkward for some reason. However, we had planned to listen and reflect through all three verses.
At the end of the first verse, the musicians messed up in a very significant way such that it was hard to overlook it and return to our reflective state of mind. Then, the second verse was not recognizable...I guess it was an interpretive statement on the song to maintain interest, but it was busy and not at all suitable to reflection. We gave our cue at that point to end based both on not liking the arrangement and on the previous disruption of the mistakes.
To be fair, I hadn't specifically explained to Jill that the song would be used for reflection, but I honestly hadn't imagined that the song could have been transformed into something that was so loud and unpretty. It's from a hymnal, after all :) And I had accepted the risk that I wouldn't have much control over the arrangement. The point to future brides, though, is that asking for a special arrangement of this group is probably unwise because 1) there's no way to hear it beforehand (though I didn't ask if there was...maybe there is?) and 2) it will be the song they've practiced the LEAST of anything in your wedding, so it's most likely to have mistakes amidst it. I wouldn't say this ruined the ceremony or anything; it just ruined a moment that would have otherwise been a highlight for me.
So, in conclusion, I appreciate that Jill was so easy to work with and had great intentions of making all my personalizations come to life, and the group was very professional and timely, but their attempts to be flexible were not well executed and somewhat embarrassing I think. I'd only recommend them if you want fairly standard wedding music...like Canon in D...

I had a quartet play during the half hour before the ceremony while my guest arrived and had wine and horduerves and then they played the ceremony.
They added a definent level of sophistication and style. Everyone loved the music.
They are very professional. You can pick how many musicians and what instruments, you can select all of the music or they can make recommendations. They are very attentive to your requests. They followed my timeline and music selections to a tee.
It was a little bit pricey; however, they really worked with me so that I could have what I wanted within my budget. It was worth the extra cost. In addition, any live music is going to cost more, that is just how it goes.

Musical Discovery Chamber Players was able to work with my budget to provide exactly what we needed for our ceremony and reception! Jill helped me with the instrument and music selections, as I was clueless, and I was really happy to have the help.

Can't say enough good things about the Musical Discovery Chamber Players! Jill always responded promptly to e-mails and was extremely helpful with suggestions for the music. They showed up on time, looked professional, and we got several compliments from our guests on how much they enjoyed the music. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed and this will be the one aspect of your wedding that won't give you a headache!
